You don't have time to prepare a custom message for every problem your patients bring to you. But how about a welcome note signed by you with a friendly photo or two? Or how about explaining some of the most common procedures? Most important, how about promoting good health? For example— Custom information. Always be sure you have colorful posters and brochures on the big issues your patients face. These are valuable even if they're sponsored by drug companies. But don't leave it to big business. Supplement commercially prepared materials with an insert or a special publication prepared by you for your patient clients. We can help you write and design these. One produced every three to six months will give your patients welcome information on a variety of topics especially for them. Keeping in touch. More and more doctors are keeping in touch with their patients by e-mail. Give them examples of the kind of information you like to receive from them and guidelines about when to write and when to call. Start a blog and invite your patients to check it out when they're online. For non-computerized patients, a brief phone call can do wonders to cement a positive relationship. Encourage comments from your patients and post interesting or useful ones on your bulletin board. Write a book. Whatever your area of medical expertise, you may feel a book boiling inside you that is related in some way to your practice or your life experiences. Whether it's a novel about the horrors of the AIDS virus, or a story of an infant who fought for life, weave the story as it fits. We can help you change identifying details to keep from embarrassing someone. Or write a book on a medical subject you know well that needs to be shared with fellow healthcare workers who do not have the advanced education and professional credentials you have earned.
